Anne Pancrazio
AVVA Affiliated Chapter Representative
VVA Chapter 1011
Mesa, AZ

I met a wonderful man named Johnny in 1997 He told me all about a Veteran group called the Vietnam Veterans of America. He said such great things about VVA and I decided to join. It was soon after that AVVA formed and I became a life member. The wonderful man Johnny and I became life partners and soul mates in October of 1997. We were married in June 1998. I have served AVVA as affiliated Chapter Representative at Chapter 669, Moline, Il. I also served as AVVA State Representative/President for Nevada State AVVA. I arrived in Arizona in 2004. I was elected as Region 9 Director of AVVA in Nashville at the Biennial meeting and served one term. I became the Alternate State Rep. under Ann Snider. I then served a term as State Rep. I am running again in 2009 for State Rep. of AVVA AZ.

In Nov.1990 Just before my husband, Bill Wesp, was deployed to the Persian Gulf, we were told by a friend there was a nice Vietnam Group near us ( it was not VVA ) . They were supportive to me while Bill was in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. When Bill returned in May of 1991 and released to the VA because of injuries in July of 1991 this group became not what we thought it intended to be. A bunch of us, about 35 of us, met at our house to form a VVA Chapter and so a new chapter, 678, was formed in Nov.1992 and the permanent home for 678 was held at a VFW in East Stroudsburg, PA.. Bill was the first Chapter President and I was the first Associate Rep of VVA 678. I was chair of Product Sales and Agent Orange and on the Fund Raiser Committee. At PA State Council I became the AO Chair. Right after 1997 when we had to become AVVA Bill and I transferred to Chapter 415 where it was a closer Chapter to us and to Bill's place of work. I was their Chaplin, the AVVA Rep. and the Recording Secretary under the Chapter Secretary until we moved to Phoenix, AZ Oct. 29, 2005. We transferred to the Phoenix Chapter, 432 Dec. 2005. I am the Alternate Rep. to our Chapter Rep., and I have helped our Chaplin out when he couldn't attend our meetings. I help out at our information table at the VA in Phoenix, and I help out at the AZ State Home for Veterans in Phoenix with their birthday month celebrations, and I am the AVVA State Council Nomination Chair. When able I like to help out where ever I can.

I have been involved with veterans affairs since 1967. I am the sister of Major Victor Joe Apodaca, Jr., USAF (MIA 08 June 1967 North Vietnam). During the 1992 Senate Select Hearings on Prisoners of War/Missing in Action, information was presented in closed session that Victor was on the Defense Intelligence Agency's "Last Known Alive" List (total names on the list: 269). The Apodaca family was never informed; we learned through other sources that he was in actuality a PRISONER OF WAR ALL OF THESE YEARS! I currently serve as Alternate under Rose Anderson Possien, and will replace her as AVVA Chapter 106 Representative when she and Aaron make their final move to a new VVA chapter in Sierra Vista.
