Living in the New Normal

The Military Child Education Coalition®(MCEC) is pleased to announce that another no-cost training opportunity has been planned in Arizona; an institute entitled ‘Living in the New Normal’ (LINN-I), on 17-18 April 2014 in Avondale, AZ.

 This training is open to area school district guidance counselors and other professional educators, psychologists, social workers, school nurses, child care providers, parents, military family readiness groups, as well as other caring adults interested in learning more about improving the education of military connected-children.

 MCEC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, world-wide organization, and it performs research, develops resources, conducts professional institutes and conferences, and develops and publishes resources for all constituencies.  It is focused on ensuring quality educational opportunities for all military children affected by mobility, family separation, and transition.

The training will be at the Hilton Garden Inn Phoenix/Avondale, 11460 West Hilton Way, Avondale, AZ  85323.

 Attached is our announcement flyer and the event is open for registration on MCEC’s website: www.militarychild.org/training.     

 The curriculum calls 12 classroom/clock hours of Continuing Education Units (CEU) and/or one non-degreed graduate credit applicable training.  MCEC is accredited by multiple organizations including, the International Association for Continuing Education and Training, the National Board of Certified Counselors, and the Texas State Board of Social Workers Examiners.

20th Annual Vietnam Remembrance Day

In-Country Vietnam Veterans in conjunction with the Vietnamese Community in Arizona and many other generous veteran organizations are again holding the Vietnam Remembrance Day Ceremonies.

20th Annual Vietnam Remembrance Day will be held April 27, 2014

Commemoration starts at 8:30a. with ceremonies at 9:00am
We will "welcome home" those who served in Vietnam .  Vietnam Veterans will receive congratulations, admiration and gratitude, something which was eluded the generation that served in Vietnam .  This ceremony will especially pay proper homage to the fallen and to the cause to which lives were given.

Ahwatukee Golf Tournament

Ahwatukee American Legion Post 64, is hosting it's sixth annual Golf Tournament Fund Raiser at 1 p.m. April 27 at Ahwatukee Golf Club. Proceeds support both college scholarships and veterans’ programs. Cost of $85 per player includes cart and dinner. Corporate sponsorships at $500, include four players, carts, dinner, reserved tables and a round of drinks. Cash prizes will be awarded to first- through third-place finishers, longest putt and closest to pin. A hole-in-one is good for a $500 prize. Format is shotgun/best ball.
